Which one should you write?
- Targeting the IIMs or a top-5 MBA? CAT is non-negotiable. Most serious candidates write CAT + XAT together — the syllabus overlaps ~80%.
- Want XLRI (HR is India’s best) or IMT? XAT, and practise Decision Making specifically — no other exam has it.
- Need a flexible schedule or a second chance? MAT runs four times a year and is accepted by a wide band of institutes; it is the lowest-stress entry point.
- Set on Symbiosis? SNAP only — short, fast, and decided by speed more than depth.
Our verdict for most aspirants: CAT as primary + XAT as insurance + SNAP if Pune is your target city. MAT only if your other scores miss and you want a same-year seat.
