1. The Quant Composition

Fraction-percentage table (1/8 = 12.5% through 1/15 ≈ 6.67%); successive-change a + b + ab/100; multiplier pairs that multiply to 1 (+25% with −20%); relative speed = sum (opposite) or difference (same direction); time-work by the LCM method (work = LCM of days, rates become integers); alligation cross for mixtures; average speed = total distance ÷ total time (never the mean). Revise only this card the evening before the exam — every one of these seven tools appears in some form in every banking paper.

Practice Corner: Five Calculation Checks (with Answers)

  1. 63.5% of 800 ≈ 508 (5/8 × 800 + a touch, or 62.5% = 500 plus 1% = 8).

  5. Mixture: milk-water 3:1; 20 L removed from 80 L and replaced with water → new ratio 9:7.

Cover the right column and convert both ways: 1/2 = 50%, 1/3 ≈ 33.33%, 1/4 = 25%, 1/5 = 20%, 1/6 ≈ 16.67%, 1/7 ≈ 14.28%, 1/8 = 12.5%, 1/9 ≈ 11.11%, 1/10 = 10%, 1/11 ≈ 9.09%, 1/12 ≈ 8.33%, 2/3 ≈ 66.67%, 3/8 = 37.5%, 5/8 = 62.5%, 7/8 = 87.5%. Twenty seconds per pass; run it until the conversions are reflex in both directions. Every simplification, DI table and arithmetic word problem in a banking paper routes through this table at least once — the candidates who clear the 20-minute locks are not faster thinkers, they are the ones for whom 14.28% and 1/7 are the same object in memory, requiring zero translation time.
